Possessing a keen eye for detail and the rare ability to combine precise technical skill and control with artistic flair and creative passion, Russell Higton crafts contemporary imagery (both stills and moving) that exudes raw emotional honesty and integrity. Equally masterful at manipulating commercial and experimental light, he is passionate about creating narratives fusing beauty and emotion, conjuring intrigue surrounding his subjects whether they be people or objects by meticulously balancing the juxtapositions of light and shadow, colour and contour; sculpting their interactions in space and playing with movement, texture, depth and distortion.

Born and raised in southern England, with an initial background in Graphic Design, Russell worked in Germany before training photographically in Australia whilst simultaneously working cocktail bars and nightclubs, developing a penetrating and highly dedicated work ethic which he applies to all projects and clients. Having honed his skills with internationally renowned photographers such as Annie Liebowitz, Peter Lindbergh, David Sims and Dan Tobin Smith, Russell has 14 years’ experience in the industry and is currently based in London.

When not dreaming of light he can be found catching waves, wild swimming and waxing lyrical about vintage auto. His dry acerbic wit can be tempered on occasion with good (vegan) food, coffee and whisky.
